DescriptionThe whole story▼
Roots are a quiet menace on woodland trails. Dry, they are just bumps; wet, they are as slippery as ice and tend to lie across the track at an angle, ready to push the tyres sideways. The Honda CRF250L, a single-cylinder trail bike that many riders use to explore off-road, crosses them easily if the rider stays loose and upright, and that begins at the footpegs. Accossato's enlarged Ergal footpegs fit the CRF250L of 2013 to 2020 and come in orange, blue, black, red or Titanium.
Key Features
- Enlarged footpegs for the Honda CRF250L, model years 2013 to 2020
- Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
- More room for the boot on slippery trails
- Accossato's use: motocross, enduro and off-road
- Orange, blue, black, red or Titanium
- A left and a right peg
- No ABE on record; for off-road competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's description of these footpegs names three things: they are enlarged, they are made of Ergal, and they are meant for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy. The enlarged platform gives the boot more support than a narrow peg, which is noticeable when the rider stands for longer stretches. You receive two pegs, one per side, in the colour you pick; red is the obvious match for Honda's colours, while black and Titanium are the quieter choices on a CRF250L.
Wet Roots Across the Trail
The technique for roots is simple to describe and takes practice to trust. Stand up, keep the weight neutral or slightly back and cross each root as close to a right angle as you can. Just before the front wheel reaches it, open the throttle a touch so the front goes light and rolls over instead of being deflected. Keep the drive steady while the rear crosses, and avoid braking or accelerating hard while a tyre is on the wet wood. If the bike twitches, let it: the rider's legs absorb the movement, and it straightens by itself.
Where the trail forces you across a root at a shallow angle, the rear wheel may step sideways, and this is where the feet do the work. A rider standing firmly on both pegs, knees in contact with the bike, stays with it; one who is sitting, or who has let a foot drift off its peg, is thrown off balance. On a CRF250L, the bike on which many riders spend their first seasons off tarmac, learning to trust the pegs over roots is a big step, and a broader peg makes that trust come a little sooner.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the CRF250L from 2013 to 2020, and the set is linked to those years in our shop. It is the only Accossato footpeg listed for this bike. The same pair is also available for the CRF250 Rally and the CRF230F. When fitting, check the original pins and springs and reuse them if they are sound, and afterwards test that each peg folds up and returns without sticking.
Road Approval
We have no ABE and no other approval documentation for these footpegs. Although the CRF250L itself is road-registered, the pegs are supplied for off-road competition use.
