DescriptionThe whole story▼
The BMW S 1000 RR arrived in 2009, the same year BMW took it into World Superbike racing. More than a decade and a half later, the early RR has become a familiar sight in club paddocks, often bought second-hand and prepared for weekend racing. Accossato's FC133 is listed for the S 1000 RR from 2009 to 2016: a tank cap with quick release, produced wholly from aluminium on CNC machines, with a quick-closing pawl whose pin colour you choose.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the BMW S 1000 RR, 2009 to 2016
- CNC-machined entirely from aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl opens and shuts the tank quickly
- Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver and gold
- Replacement pawl can be ordered separately
- Accossato part FC133
- No German ABE on file, for the circuit
Construction and Material Quality
Club racers count every expense, and one detail of the FC133 suits that well: if its pawl is damaged, Accossato sells the pawl on its own, so there is no need to buy a complete cap. The rest is aluminium, machined entirely on CNC equipment, which Accossato credits for the cap's robustness and durability. The quick-closing pawl makes opening and closing the tank a quick job, and its pin is available in six colours, from black and silver to red, blue, gold and green. Accossato calls the design new and attractive.
Weekend Racing on a First-Generation RR
Club racing on an early S 1000 RR is rarely glamorous. The bike travels in a van or on a trailer, the paddock is a patch of tarmac shared with a dozen other teams, and most of the work is done by the rider and a friend. That makes routines important. Keep a checklist taped inside the lid of the toolbox: tyre pressures, chain, pads, fuel. Before each race, look at the cap, open and close it once to be sure the pawl works cleanly, and top up only with the engine off and the bike upright on its stands. Wipe away drops at once, because fuel on the tank makes it slippery under the rider's knees and chest and does the paint no favours. At the end of the weekend, check the cap for knocks, and if the RR is ever ridden on the road, refit the original cap first.
Fitment and Compatibility
The FC133 appears on Accossato's list for the S 1000 RR from 2009 to 2016, and the same cap is listed for the S 1000 R. From 2017 the RR moves to a different Accossato cap, the FC103. Club bikes change hands often, so confirm the year of your RR and hold it against the application list before you buy.
Road Approval
Neither a German ABE nor an expert report is documented, so the FC133 is for track use. For everyday riding the RR has a factory cap that locks with the key, and on public roads that is the cap to keep.
