DescriptionThe whole story▼
A rut corner on a motocross track is where a 125 two-stroke is most at risk of falling off its power. The TM Racing MX 125 two-stroke has to be kept revving through the turn, and the rider does it with the clutch, fanning the lever as the bike leans into the rut and letting it out fully as the exit straightens. Accossato's C7283 is the folding clutch lever for the MX 125 two-stroke from 2010 to 2019: Ergal 7075, machined in Italy, with a long blade for four fingers.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the TM Racing MX 125 two-stroke, 2010 to 2019
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Long, four-finger blade
- Anti-break hinge between base and blade
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, made in Italy
- Dark base, blade in black, blue, orange or red
- No German ABE on record; for motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
The clutch lever of a 125 two-stroke is in use almost constantly, so Accossato machines the C7283 from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, on CNC equipment in Italy. Strength, reliability and low weight are the qualities the company is after. The lever is in two parts, a dark base on the clutch pivot and a hinged blade in black, blue, orange or red. The blade is the long shape, made for four fingers.
Fanning the Clutch Through a Rut
Fanning the clutch means pulling it part of the way in and letting it out again, quickly and repeatedly, to keep the engine in its power while the rear tyre looks for grip. In a deep rut the MX 125 two-stroke is leaned over, the throttle is held steady and the clutch does the fine work, so the rider's left hand is busy for the whole corner. A long blade gives the whole hand somewhere to go, and some riders find the fanning easier to control that way than with two fingers on the end of a short lever.
Ruts also catch riders out. A foot slips off the peg, the front tyre climbs the rut wall or the rear jumps out, and the bike falls into the rut on its inside, which in a left-hander is the clutch side. The lever is then trapped between the bike and a hard rut wall. With its hinge, the C7283 can let the blade fold forward instead of breaking, so the TM may be picked up and restarted quickly. That is not guaranteed, but in a race, a working clutch after a fall in a rut can be the difference between losing a place and losing the whole moto.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the TM Racing MX 125 two-stroke, Accossato's clutch-side listing starts in 2010 and runs to 2019; the C7283 fits the original clutch mount on those bikes, and earlier ones are not covered. On the brake side, the folding B8206 is listed for the MX 125 two-stroke all the way from 2001. The two levers share black, blue and red, with orange extra on the clutch and gold on the brake.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7283. It is meant, like the MX 125 two-stroke, for the motocross track and closed off-road terrain.
Scope of Delivery
