DescriptionThe whole story▼

Slow, rocky trails in summer heat are hard on riders and machines alike, and the clutch feels it more than most parts. On the KTM 150 XC-W, a light two-stroke for cross-country riding, a long technical section can mean minutes of almost continuous slipping, and the lever under the rider's fingers is the main source of information about what is happening inside the engine. Accossato's C7283 is made for the 150 XC-W of 2017 to 2021, milled in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a four-finger blade and an anti-break joint.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the KTM 150 XC-W, 2017 to 2021
  • Fits at the original clutch mount on the left of the handlebar
  • Blade long enough for all four fingers
  • Anti-break joint: in a crash the blade can fold forward
  • Milled from a solid block of Ergal 7075 in Italy
  • Blade in black, blue, orange or red on a dark base
  • No German ABE documented; intended for off-road use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato produces the C7283 by CNC machining from solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy of high strength, in Italy. The company's stated priorities for its off-road levers are strength, low weight and reliability, and the two-part layout follows from them: a dark base mounted on the clutch pivot with the joint built in, and a blade in black, blue, orange or red that can fold on that joint. Clutch levers in Accossato's off-road range are the longer type, drawn for four fingers.

When the Clutch Gets Hot

A clutch that is slipped for a long time builds up heat, and a hot clutch changes its character. The point where it starts to bite can wander, the drive may fade, and the lever can feel different from the one you started the section with. Experienced riders manage this by slipping only as much as they need, choosing a lower gear where the terrain allows, and giving the engine a spell of easy running after a long technical stretch. Throughout, the left hand is the sensor, reading the clutch through the lever.

Those technical stretches are also where most tip-overs happen: a rock that stops the front wheel, a step the rear cannot climb, a foot that finds nothing to stand on. The 150 XC-W falls to the left, the lever hits stone, and on a hot day in rocky country that stone is unforgiving. With the C7283, the joint gives the blade a way to fold forward and away from the impact. There is no promise it comes through every such fall, but when it does, the ride goes on with the same lever feel you were relying on a moment before.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the KTM 150 XC-W, Accossato gives 2017 to 2021 as the years for the C7283, which takes the place of the standard lever at the original clutch mount. The B8283 folding brake lever is listed for the same period. Red is available on the clutch side only; in black, blue or orange, both levers of the 150 XC-W can match.

Road Approval

The C7283 has no documented German ABE. Like the 150 XC-W itself, it is meant for off-road riding and competition.
