DescriptionThe whole story▼

A 250 two-stroke rewards the rider who keeps it spinning. Let the revs fall away in a slow corner and the Husqvarna TC 250 hesitates before it pulls again; hold them up and it drives out hard. Much of that work is done by the left hand, in brief slips of the clutch that riders call fanning. Accossato's answer for the 2022 TC 250 is the C7283, a folding clutch lever milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy and made longer than the matching brake lever, so that four fingers fit on the blade.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna TC 250, model year 2022
  • Replaces the standard lever at the original clutch mount
  • Longer blade, designed by Accossato for four fingers
  • Accossato's anti-break joint lets the blade swing forward in a fall
  • Milled in Italy from a solid piece of Ergal 7075
  • Blade in black, blue, orange or red on a dark base
  • One lever per order
  • No German ABE documented; motocross and off-road use

Construction and Material Quality

On a two-stroke racer the clutch lever is worked hundreds of times in a single moto, so it has to be strong without adding weight at the end of the bar. Accossato's answer is Ergal 7075, the zinc-alloyed aluminium also used for many climbing carabiners, machined from solid on CNC equipment in Italy. The company sums up its goals as strength, low weight and reliability. The C7283 is made in two parts, a dark base on the clutch pivot and a coloured blade hinged to it, and its blade has the long clutch shape, drawn for four fingers.

Keeping It on the Pipe

Compared with a 250 four-stroke, a two-stroke of the same size makes its drive over a narrower band of revs, and every corner tests whether you can stay inside it. Leaving a flat turn in second gear, a practised rider lets the clutch slip for a fraction of a second, the engine jumps back into its power and the rear tyre hooks up. In a sandy or rutted corner the same thing may happen two or three times. Across a whole moto that adds up to hundreds of quick, partial pulls on the lever.

Fanning also keeps the hand working at the edge of control, and that is where plenty of small crashes begin. A slip that bites too sharply lifts the front, the bike steps sideways out of the rut, and the TC 250 lands on its left. Instead of meeting that blow rigidly, the C7283's blade can pivot forward on its joint. That is a possibility rather than a certainty, yet it can decide whether the moto ends at the chequered flag or with the bike being pushed off the track.

Fitment and Compatibility

The C7283 is made for a single model year of the Husqvarna TC 250, 2022, where it replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount. Earlier bikes are handled by a different clutch lever, the C7284, listed from 2014 to 2020; the 2021 TC 250 appears under neither. On the right side, the B8283 folding brake lever includes 2022 among its years. Of these three levers only the C7283 is offered in red, while the other two come in black, blue or orange.

Road Approval

Accossato's C7283 carries no German ABE. It is intended for motocross circuits and other closed off-road terrain, the environment the TC 250 was built for.
