Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Honda CB500X (2019–2026) CM220S

An adventure-styled twin is bought for the trip and then spends a good deal of its year not taking it. Two weeks away, a handful of long weekends, and five months under a cover in a garage that is colder than the house and damper than anyone admits. Filters age through that as surely as they age through mileage: paper takes on moisture from the air it sits in, gives some of it up, and slowly loses the crispness of its folds whether or not the odometer moved. The Sprint Filter P08 CM220S has nothing in it that responds to a winter — a woven polyester medium, dry, with no oil film to dry out or run.

The odometer is not the only clock

A bike that covers modest annual mileage will still meet its service intervals by date, and the paper element that comes out is often replaced simply because nobody can tell by looking what a season of standing has done to it. That uncertainty is the actual expense. A synthetic weave removes it: it is inspected, blown through, and refitted, and its condition is a question of what has passed through it rather than how long it has been sitting there.

Ready when the season is

The useful moment for this part comes in spring, when the bike is being made ready and the last thing anybody wants is to wait on a small consumable. Compressed air from the clean side, a wash if the previous autumn was a wet one, back in dry — the airbox is closed the same morning. Sprint Filter designs the P08 to last the life of the motorcycle, so this becomes an annual ritual rather than an annual purchase.

Care and cleaning

Three things it must never meet: oil, a heat source and a flame. The rest is simple — compressed air from the clean side, worked outwards, and where a damp autumn has left its mark, lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a rinse continued until the water runs clear.
