Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Ducati Multistrada 1200 / S / D|air (2015–2017) PM127S

The 2015 Multistrada 1200 introduced Desmodromic Variable Timing, and it is the reason this generation asks something unusual of its intake. Variable timing exists to widen the powerband — to make one engine behave like a soft twin at 3.000 rpm and a hard one at 9.000. That means the airbox is asked for a far broader range of flow than a fixed-timing engine ever demands, and the filter has to be adequate across all of it. The Sprint Filter P08 PM127S is a dry polyester element with roughly double the filtering surface, fitted in the standard airbox.

A wide powerband is a wide flow range

The pressure drop across a filter is not a constant; it rises with the volume of air being drawn through it. On an engine designed to be tractable low down and strong at the top, the intake sees both extremes routinely — and a partly loaded element penalises the high end disproportionately, because that is where the flow is greatest. The result is an engine that still pulls politely in town but has quietly lost some of the top-end urgency DVT was fitted to provide.

One element for all three versions

The same PM127S serves the base 1200, the S with its semi-active suspension, and the D|air with the Dainese airbag link — Ducati changed electronics and suspension between them, not the airbox. It also covers the Multistrada 950 and the whole 1260 family.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air from the clean side outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame. Refit dry; there is no oiling step.
