Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – CFMOTO MT-X 800 (2022–2026) SM292S

Two figures travel with this element and they measure entirely different things. Sprint Filter warrants the P08 for two years from the date of purchase, and designs it to remain in the motorcycle for as long as the motorcycle is on the road. Riders tend to read those as one number and adopt the shorter of the two. A warranty answers whether the part left the production line correctly. A design life answers what the cloth is doing after several seasons of a CFMOTO MT-X 800 being ridden the way you ride it. Only the second question is about wear, and for a washable woven element the answer to it is unusual enough to spell out.

What actually wears here

A paper panel and its dust load are the same object: the medium collects, the medium fills, the medium is thrown away, and the moment of replacement is fixed by that arrangement rather than by the condition of anything else. Woven polyester separates the two. The load sits on a surface and is taken off it again; the weave underneath is not consumed by the act of filtering. That is why Sprint Filter can put a service life on it at all — the element is not spending itself while it works, which is precisely what a disposable one does. Two years of warranty sits on top of that as cover against a fault, not as a countdown.

The claim not being made

What none of this amounts to is more power. An insert filter does not make a standard MT-X 800 noticeably stronger, and a description that suggests it does has stopped describing the part. The honest version is duller and easier to check: the restriction in front of the throttle bodies stops drifting upward across the service interval, because whatever it collects is removed instead of accumulating until the panel is binned. Over the five model years this machine has been built, that turns into an intake state you can restore deliberately rather than one that only resets when you spend money.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air on the clean face, directed outwards, covers the normal service; the load leaves by the route it arrived on. If the element is oily rather than dusty, lukewarm water and a little mild detergent will shift it — rinse until the water runs clear. Dry it in moving air, unhurried, and keep it well away from heat guns, radiators and naked flame; then fit it dry, with nothing applied.
