What a Collector Article Is

Most exhaust purchases are silencers. This one is the other half: the pipework that runs from the cylinder heads to the point where a silencer clamps on, built in titanium rather than the steel Ducati uses.

Buying it separately makes sense in two situations — you already have a Spark silencer and want to complete the system, or you are building a machine where the collector is the restriction and the can is not.

Titanium Ahead of the Silencer

Titanium is lighter than steel for the same wall strength and holds its shape through the heat cycling a header run sees. On a collector, which sits closest to the exhaust ports and therefore runs hottest, that second property matters as much as the first.

Spark forms and TIG-welds its own pipework, and the seams are left visible rather than dressed back.

The Optional dB Killer

Spark builds a dB killer specifically for this collector, article G9976 at 83 euro. It is a perforated grid insert, and Spark is explicit that it is only compatible when installed on the manifold — it goes into the collector, not into a silencer.

If the circuits you ride enforce a noise limit, order the two together.

No Catalytic Converter

The standard Multistrada 950 carries its catalyst in the collector, and this part does not replace it — it removes it. That is why Spark lists the article as racing and why it cannot be used on a road-registered motorcycle.
