Shell Construction and Safety

The outer shell is made from AIM — Advanced Integrated Matrix — a fibreglass composite combining several fibre materials into a compact, deliberately small-looking shell. Beneath it sits a polystyrene core assembled from multiple elements of differing absorption characteristics, so impact energy is distributed across the structure rather than concentrated at one point. The classic double-D ring chin strap is easy to adjust and holds the helmet securely in position. In an emergency, the cheek pads can be removed via the EQRS system so the helmet can be taken off without unnecessary movement of the head and neck. In SHARP testing — the independent programme run by the UK Department for Transport — the Glamster06 achieved the full five stars in May 2025, a notably strong result for a helmet built around a classic silhouette.

Visor System

The CPB-1V clear visor follows the classic round shape that defines the Glamster's face, but it is anything but old-fashioned in function: a large field of view and a redesigned visor mechanism make it easy to operate, and the supplied Pinlock EVO anti-fog lens keeps vision clear in cold and damp conditions. A tinted visor is available separately — please observe the applicable homologation rules when fitting one. Shoei also offers a photochromic CPB-1V visor for the Glamster06, which darkens automatically with the light and takes the place of an integrated sun shield.

Please note: the Glamster06 has no integrated sun visor. That is a deliberate part of its clean retro design — a tinted or photochromic visor is the intended route.

Ventilation

Ventilation on the Glamster06 is deliberately understated, because visible vent hardware would break the retro line. A single intake sits at the forehead, opening and closing without intermediate steps. Two intakes at the lower chin bar draw air in through aluminium mesh, with no sliders to interrupt the shape. Used air is channelled through the EPS liner and released at the base of the neck rather than through conventional rear exhaust vents.

In practice that means airflow is adequate rather than abundant — this is a helmet chosen for its looks and its low weight, not for maximum through-flow on a hot motorway stage. If constant high-volume ventilation is your priority, a sport-touring shell will serve you better.

Fit and Interior

Three outer shell sizes (XS–M | L | XL–XXL) allow a correct helmet-to-rider proportion and keep the compact look intact even in the larger sizes — a detail that matters on a helmet whose whole appeal is its silhouette. The centre pad, the cheek pads and the chin strap cover are fully removable and washable. To fine-tune the fit, centre and cheek pads are available in different sizes and thicknesses, so the helmet can be adapted to your head rather than the other way round.

Size Guide

Measure your head circumference approximately 2.5 cm above the eyebrows, around the widest part of the head. Where your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend trying the larger size first. Fitment and Compatibility

The Shoei Glamster06 is a neo-retro full-face helmet for road use, suitable for all motorcycle types — no vehicle-specific fitment restrictions apply. It is built around the classic look, so unlike Shoei's touring models it has no integrated sun visor and no dedicated COMLINK intercom interface. Visors, cheek and centre pads, chin strap covers and chin curtains are available as genuine Shoei spare and tuning parts.
