DescriptionThe whole story▼
For an R1M with an I2M dashboard, the JP SPS 003 is the sport left switch, machined from Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- Yamaha R1M (2015–2024)
- Requires an I2M dashboard
- CNC-milled Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Racing loom required
- Sport control set
Two Generations of R1M
The fitment covers the 2015 bike with its original Öhlins ERS and the 2020 revision with the NPX fork. Both ship with Yamaha's own telemetry, and this switch exists for owners who have replaced that with an I2M system.
Choosing I2M Over the Factory System
Usually because the rider already runs I2M elsewhere and wants one interface and one export format across a garage. It is a workflow decision rather than a technical criticism of what Yamaha supplies.
Sport Rather Than Superbike
The control set sits between a road cluster and a fully stripped competition one. On a track-day R1M that has not been reduced to bare essentials, it is generally the right balance.
The Harness Is the Work
A racing loom removes the road wiring and replaces it with a harness built around the dashboard. That is a winter project; the switch at the end of it takes an evening.
Carbon and a Milled Cockpit
The R1M's bodywork is bare carbon and its suspension anodised gold. A machined aluminium control belongs among those materials in a way a black plastic moulding does not.
Sealed Elements
Contacts sealed inside a one-piece body. R1Ms are transported and washed hot rather than ridden in the rain, and ingress from a jet washer is the failure mode that matters.
Limited Population
Fixed annual allocations mean there are not many of these in Europe. Aftermarket development is correspondingly narrow, and parts that fit properly are worth noting.
A Considered Replacement
Removing Yamaha's own telemetry in favour of I2M is a deliberate decision rather than a default one. It is made by riders who already run the system elsewhere and value a single interface across a garage more than any individual feature.
