DescriptionThe whole story▼
Give your Yamaha YZF-R1 RN65 a genuine upgrade that earns its place on track. The AP Carbon Line SBK tank cover is laid up in 200g twill-weave carbon fibre and cut specifically for the RN65 generation, delivering a precise fit within the AP Carbon Line race fairing system, meaningful weight savings, and a finish that looks purposeful every time you pull the bike out of the garage.
Key Features
- 100% carbon fibre construction — ultralight yet exceptionally rigid, offering real weight reduction without compromising durability for sustained track use.
- 200g twill-weave layup — the classic two-over-two weave pattern produces a consistent, high-gloss appearance and even structural strength across the panel.
- Precision fitment for Yamaha YZF-R1 RN65 (2020–2026) — engineered to follow the body lines of the RN65, with no trimming, filling or adaptation required when fitted to the AP Carbon Line race fairing system.
- Fitted as part of the AP Carbon Line race fairing system — installation is straightforward with basic tools.
- Motorsport-proven design — developed with SBK racing experience behind it, equally at home on race weekends and as a track-day finishing touch.
- Part number YA-R12-T2C-11 — a catalogued reference for effortless reordering and warranty support.
Build Quality
AP Carbon Line produces each panel in-house using aerospace-grade carbon fibre and a resin system that resists UV yellowing and minor stone chip damage better than raw gel-coat finishes. The 200g twill cloth strikes a practical balance: light enough to make a measurable difference to the front-end feel when braking hard or flicking through corners, yet thick enough to protect the tank surface from keys, belt buckles and the general wear of sustained track use. The gloss clear-coat topcoat requires no specialist maintenance — a quick wipe-down after a ride keeps it looking showroom fresh.
Track Use
Whether the R1 is turning laps on a test day or lining up for a race weekend, the SBK tank cover does the same job reliably in both settings. On track it sheds a few grams from the nose and projects the right aesthetic alongside other carbon add-on parts. On track it also protects the tank surface beneath from cosmetic damage that would otherwise cost considerably more to repair. Either way, the investment pays for itself in reduced wear on the paint beneath.
