DescriptionThe whole story▼
Akrapovic builds two track day link pipes for the R1 and they solve opposite problems. One mounts a Track Day Muffler to Yamaha's standard headers. This one mounts it to Akrapovic's own Evolution or Racing Line headers. Buying the wrong one is easy and the difference is not obvious from the part number.
Key Features
- Titanium, for use with the Akrapovic Evolution or Racing Line header set
- 97.5 dB at 5,500 rpm for headers, pipe and Track Day Muffler together
- Named systems: S-Y10E3-APT, S-Y10E6-APT and S-Y10R15-APLT
- Covers twelve model years of R1 under one number
- ECU remapping recommended
- Closed course competition use only
Which Headers You Have Decides the Part
Akrapovic names three systems this pipe connects to: the Evolution Line kit S-Y10E3-APT, the Evolution Line S-Y10E6-APT and the Racing Line S-Y10R15-APLT. In each case what matters is the collector and headers, with the associated flanges, springs, inner sleeves and lambda plugs.
If your R1 still runs Yamaha's own headers, this is not the part. The other track day link pipe in this catalogue is the one that fits standard headers.
And the Muffler
The pipe also needs the Akrapovic Track Day Muffler at the far end. That silencer is a separate item and it does not appear in the current price list this shop buys from, so it may have to be sourced specially.
Anyone whose R1 is already built that way is exactly who this pipe is for.
97.5 Decibels
One reading, and it belongs to the whole chain rather than to this component: race headers, this pipe and the Track Day Muffler together measure 97.5 dB at five and a half thousand rpm. A figure for the pipe by itself would say nothing.
That gets past a 98 dB gate and fails a 95 dB one. The meter does not negotiate.
Titanium in a Hidden Place
Several track day pipes in this range are stainless steel; this one is not. Since the part is buried between headers and silencer where nobody will ever see it, choosing the costlier metal can only have been about what it weighs.
Check the Schematics
Akrapovic's own note asks buyers to refer to the schematics of the named systems, because what has to be present is not just the headers but the fitting material that came with them — flanges, springs, inner sleeves and lambda plugs.
An R1 that has been apart a few times may be missing some of that. It is worth checking the box of leftovers before ordering.
One Number, Twelve Years
Nothing about the R1's exhaust mounting has moved since the crossplane bike arrived in 2015, which is why a single pipe serves every year to 2026.
Remapping
Advised, not demanded — Akrapovic frames it as a matter of performance, throttle response and durability. Any machine prepared for circuit use will be mapped regardless.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
