DescriptionThe whole story▼

Under the Scrambler 800 name, Accossato's application list gathers two bikes that could hardly look more different: the Café Racer, with clip-on bars and mirrors at the bar ends, and the Desert Sled, with long-travel suspension and a chassis prepared for dirt. Both are built around the air-cooled twin, and both can end up away from public roads, one on a circuit, the other on a closed off-road course. Accossato's list gives both the same part across the years 2017 to 2022, the FC105: a filler cap with quick release, machined wholly from aluminium, its pawl pin in six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Scrambler 800, 2017 to 2022
  • Listed for the Café Racer (2017 to 2020) and the Desert Sled (2017 to 2022)
  • Machined wholly from aluminium on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl for quick opening and closing
  • Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
  • Spare pawl available on its own
  • No German ABE documented; for circuits and closed courses

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato, whose history includes an Enduro world title in 1985, machines the FC105 wholly from aluminium on CNC equipment and describes it as robust and durable. The design is new. Its quick-closing pawl opens and closes the filler quickly, whether the Scrambler 800 stands in a paddock or at the edge of a gravel practice area. The pin on the pawl is available in six colours, and a damaged pawl can be replaced individually.

Café Racer and Desert Sled

A Café Racer on a circuit and a Desert Sled on a closed off-road course use the same cap in very different surroundings. On tarmac the job is familiar: the bike upright on a paddock stand, engine off, fuel through a funnel, pawl closed and checked. Off-road there is rarely a level surface or a stand. Look for firm ground, put the Desert Sled on its side stand with the tank as level as the ground allows, or have someone hold it upright, and refuel with your back to the wind so that dust does not blow into the open filler. Wipe the area around the cap before you open it, because grit on the rim ends up under the seal. On both bikes, stop short of the very top: a brim-full tank on a bike that leans on its side stand, or bounces over ruts, leaves the fuel nowhere to go. The cap is the same; the ground under it decides how careful you need to be.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list places two versions under the Scrambler 800 name for the FC105: the Café Racer from 2017 to 2020 and the Desert Sled from 2017 to 2022. At Inter-Pace the same cap is also listed for the Scrambler 1100 and the DesertX. Your own bike should appear on that list before you order. Swap caps with the engine cold and the Scrambler standing securely, whichever of the two versions it is.

Road Approval

The FC105 has no German ABE and no documented expert report, so we sell it for use away from public roads, on circuits and closed courses. The Scrambler's original cap usually locks with the ignition key, and it is the cap to ride on the road with; the Accossato cap is not an automatic replacement there.
