DescriptionThe whole story▼
In slow, technical terrain many riders of the Husqvarna TE 250 keep the rear brake lightly applied while they open the throttle. The two-stroke's power then reaches the ground more smoothly, and the bike stays calm over roots and rocks. The rear disc pays for that with constant friction and heat. Accossato's DK018 serves the TE 250 of 2014 to 2018 at the rear. It is fixed and one piece, which the supplier describes as steel-made, is 220 mm in diameter, has a 110 mm bore and is 4 mm thick.
Key Features
- Rear brake disc for the Husqvarna TE 250, model years 2014 to 2018
- Fixed off-road disc in one piece, steel-made according to the supplier
- Diameters of 220 mm outside and 110 mm inside
- 4 mm thick, minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc (Accossato)
- One disc per order
- No German ABE on record; for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The DK018 is a solid, one-piece part: friction ring and hub mounting are the same piece of steel, as the supplier puts it. Accossato explains that its disc expertise comes from racing, specifically Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and says it pays close attention to tolerances. The minimum working thickness is marked on the disc, which saves guesswork when it is time for a check.
Throttle Against the Rear Brake
The technique works because the brake takes the edge off the engine's response. Instead of breaking loose as the power comes in, the rear wheel is held back just enough to find grip, and on a lively two-stroke enduro like the TE 250 that makes steep, slippery sections far easier. The price is heat. A disc that is dragged for minutes at a time can get hotter than one used for a single hard stop, and the brake fluid heats up with it. A pedal whose travel grows towards the end of a technical section is a sign that the fluid is getting too hot and the system needs a rest. Check the rear pads frequently if you ride like this, change the fluid at the intervals Husqvarna recommends or sooner, and measure the disc against its printed minimum more often than the calendar would suggest.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the TE 250, Accossato gives the DK018 for 2014 to 2018 and describes it as interchangeable with the factory rear disc; the matching front disc for those years is the DK017. If the brake pedal of the TE 250 has taken a knock in the rocks, straighten or replace it at the same time, as a bent pedal can keep the brake slightly on.
Road Approval
The TE 250 can carry a registration, but the DK018 has no German ABE and no documented type approval. It is meant for competition and private land.
Scope of Delivery
One DK018 rear disc, supplied without fitting parts.
