DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Katana draws a crowd. Park one outside a café or at a bike meeting and people gather, look, take photos and wait to hear it start. Then comes the moment every owner knows: pulling away while everyone watches. A smooth departure is mostly a matter of the clutch. Accossato's ESV004 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the GSX-S1000 Katana, listed for 2020, with an adjustable distance to the grip and blades in up to three lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Suzuki GSX-S1000 Katana, 2020
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm; short and long in selected colours
- Machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- Blade colours to pair with the EDF035 brake lever
- Rigid blade without folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
The ESV004 is cut from aluminium on CNC machines and anodised afterwards. Anodising builds a hard oxide skin out of the metal, which is then dyed: black for the hub and your chosen colour for the blade. The hub is also where the working parts sit, the pivot and the reach adjuster. There is no hinge in the blade and no folding mechanism, so the lever you set up in the garage is exactly the lever you find on the road.
When People Are Watching
Stalling in front of an audience happens to experienced riders too, and usually for the same reasons: a cold engine, a slight slope, and a clutch let out a fraction too quickly because the hand could not quite find the friction point. The cure is a set-up you trust. Adjust the ESV004 so that the clutch starts to bite while your fingers are still well curled, then practise a few departures in a quiet street until the take-up feels natural. When the moment comes, keep it simple: engine warm, a little throttle, eyes up and ahead, and let the lever out through the friction zone steadily instead of in one go. A big four-cylinder engine needs only a modest amount of throttle to move the Katana off, so the left hand does most of the work. If you prefer a lighter pull, the long blade reduces the effort, and it is made in blue, gold, green and orange. Black and red blades exist in the standard length only.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESV004 for the GSX-S1000 Katana for 2020, and it replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting. The reference differs from the ESS035 that Accossato lists for the GSX-S1000 roadster, so the Katana needs this product rather than that one. On the brake side, the EDF035 is listed for the Katana for the same year. Silver blades come short or standard.
Road Approval
The ESV004 is supplied for track use, since no German ABE is documented for it.
