DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Svartpilen 401 invites small detours: along a riverside lane open to motor traffic, down a track to a lake, through a village on market day. Roads like these are often shared with walkers, cyclists and dogs, and riding among them means walking pace, patience and a single cylinder that must not surge. The Accossato ESK390 is a clutch lever for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 of 2018 to 2020. It is machined from aluminium, fits the original clutch mounting and can be set closer to or further from the grip.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, 2018 to 2020
  • Mounts on the original clutch mounting
  • Distance to the grip adjustable near the pivot
  • Standard blade about 138 mm long; short and long in selected colours
  • CNC-machined, anodised aluminium with black hub
  • Blade colours: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver, green
  • Fixed blade without hinge

Construction and Material Quality

How a clutch lever feels depends a great deal on how precisely it sits on its pivot. Accossato machines the ESK390 from solid aluminium on CNC machines, which allows the pivot bore in the black hub to be made to a close fit, with the reach adjuster beside it. After machining, the lever is anodised: black on the hub, your chosen colour on the blade. The blade itself is a fixed, one-piece design without a folding joint, so the only movement in the lever is the one around its pivot.

Among Walkers and Cyclists

A single-cylinder engine at very low revs does not run as smoothly as an engine with more cylinders, and below a certain speed in first gear it starts to shudder and push. On a shared lane, a sudden push is the last thing you want, because it startles people and their dogs. Slipping the clutch is the answer. Keep the engine at a steady, slightly raised idle, let the lever out only as far as it takes for the bike to roll at the speed of the people around you, and pull it in again the moment they stop. Done well, this is quiet and smooth. The left hand does all the work, so the lever should sit where two fingers can hold it at the friction point with the hand relaxed. Pass walkers wide and slowly on the Svartpilen, and give them time to see you coming.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the ESK390 for the Svartpilen 401 from 2018 to 2020. It mounts at the original clutch mounting and replaces the standard lever. The brake side of the same bikes is covered by the EDF039, with the same black hub and the same colours.

Road Approval

The ESK390 has no German ABE on file, and we offer it for circuit use.
