Sprint Filter's range runs finer than this. The T12, a special non-woven at 7 microns and a rated 560 l/m²/sec, exists for machines that work in the sort of dust most riders only read about. It is not catalogued for this element code, which makes the decision for a CFMOTO SS 675 a short one: the standard weave at 80 microns, or this at 14. There is no third step down to consider, so nothing has to be staged. The choice is made once, against the roads the bike actually sees.

A choice with two positions and no ladder

It is tempting to read a range of materials as a hierarchy and buy upward, and the price list quietly contradicts that instinct here: the fine medium is not listed above the standard one for this housing. These are not grades of quality. They are answers to different air, and the rule connecting them runs in one direction only — the more a material holds back, the less it passes through a given area. Neither position is better in the abstract, and both fit the same box in the same few minutes.

What actually decides it

Conditions, and only conditions. Sealed roads, wet climates and a bike used mostly for commuting are the standard weave's case, because there the extra retention buys little and the flow is worth keeping. Dry regions, unsealed surfaces, harvest traffic and summers that put grit into everything are the P14's case. Ride in the second and this element is the right part; ride in the first and it is a concession made for nothing. What it will not do either way is add power. A drop-in filter does not make a standard SS 675 noticeably faster, and the benefit is a restriction that a cleaning puts back where it began.

Care and cleaning

The routine is short and consumes nothing at all. Compressed air on the clean face, worked across the whole panel, does the ordinary service. For a greasy deposit that air will not shift, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent lifts it, then rinse until the water runs clear.
