There is a test for this purchase that costs nothing and settles most of it. On the next ride, count the seconds spent with the throttle fully open in the upper half of the rev range. Not the ride, not the quick bits — the seconds at full flow. That total is the entire window in which a rated 15,000 l/m²/sec can be spent, and on a Dragster RR ridden on public roads it is a small number that most owners overestimate before they count it.
Key Features
- Racing-specification polyester, woven and run dry, with no oil at any point
- 85 µm aperture, 15,000 l/m²/sec — Sprint Filter's highest rated throughput
- Around double the filtering area of other performance elements, in the standard outline
- 95.22 per cent of 100-micron particles held back under measurement
- Straight swap for the factory panel; the airbox stays sealed and standard, the map untouched
- Cleaned and reused for the life of the machine, with two years of guarantee
When the reserve is actually drawn on
Intake resistance climbs with the volume of air moving through the medium, so it is negligible at town speeds and reaches its maximum only where the engine is asking for everything at once. Sustained full-throttle running in the top gears is the state a racing cloth is bought for. A short-geared naked with the rider sitting upright in the wind reaches that state in bursts measured in seconds, then leaves it again, because the air pushing against the rider ends the pull long before anything in the airbox becomes the limiting item.
The other side of the clock
Capacity is billed by the second. Aperture is not. The wider opening that buys the flow is there in traffic, on the motorway, in the rain and during every minute of a ride in which nothing is being asked of the engine, and what passes through it is the fine fraction that no owner ever sees leave. So the arithmetic is asymmetric, and it points one way for a road-registered Dragster: the standard P08 at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec covers the seconds perfectly well and asks a fraction of what this one does. CM135S F1-85 makes sense when those seconds turn into repeated laps.
Care and cleaning
Blow it clean from the inside out — the clean side faces the air line, so that whatever the weave stopped travels back out rather than deeper in. Most services need nothing more. When a season has left a film that air will not shift, wash the element in warm water with a mild detergent and rinse it through until the water comes away clear. Drying happens in air alone and takes as long as it takes; heat of any kind, from a blower to an open flame, ruins the medium, and a damp element never goes back in. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
