DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first length of pipe after the rear cylinder head, in titanium, for Spark's GDU8832 racing system. Spark sells it on its own because it is the section that gets damaged - not the section that wears out.
Key Features
- Titanium primary pipe, rear cylinder, for the Ducati Panigale V2 955 and 959.
- Belongs to the GDU8832 system - the full titanium underseat kit with Grid-O silencers.
- Sold individually as a replacement part.
- Rear cylinder only. The front cylinder takes a different pipe.
- Racing part, no homologation.
What a Primary Is
On a two-cylinder engine the primary is the pipe that leaves one exhaust port and runs to the point where both sides meet. It is the piece that does most of the tuning work, because its length and its internal diameter set where in the rev range the system helps and where it does not. Everything downstream - collector, link, silencer - works with what the primaries hand it.
Which is why it is not a part to substitute. A pipe of the right diameter but the wrong length will bolt up and will change the engine's behaviour, and not in a direction anyone chose.
Why It Is Sold Separately
Primaries sit low and forward on a Panigale, inside the fairing, close to the ground. They are what a crash reaches first, and a dented primary is a dented primary - titanium of this wall thickness does not come back out. A team that runs the bike hard keeps one on the shelf rather than ordering a whole system after a Friday session.
Rear Cylinder Only
The V2 is a 90-degree L-twin: one cylinder lies close to horizontal at the front, the other stands close to vertical behind it. The two ports face in different directions and the pipes are not interchangeable. This is the rear one. The front primary for the Rectangular WSSP build is SGDU8836*05.
Fitment & Compatibility
Built for the GDU8832 system on the Ducati Panigale V2 955, 2020 to 2024, and the Panigale 959, 2016 to 2019. Spark numbers its spare parts from the system they belong to: the leading S plus the system number plus the position. If your bike carries a different Spark system, order the part that starts with that system's number, or ask us and we will match it against your build.
Road Approval
None. Part of a racing system, supplied as a spare for closed-course use.
