A stainless bushing with an M18 thread, supplied to be welded into a pipe. Fifteen euro for the part that gives a fabricated system somewhere to put a sensor.
Key Features
- Weld-in bung for a lambda sensor, M18 thread.
- Stainless steel.
- Body Ø 25 mm, underside milled to a Ø 54 mm pipe.
- Supplied for welding to the pipe.
- Spark part number SGATT139, made in Mantova, Italy.
Where to Weld It
At least three tube diameters downstream of a junction, and into a straight section rather than a bend. Gas leaving a collector or a corner is not evenly mixed, and a sensor reading disturbed flow gives a number that means nothing.
Angle the bung so the sensor tip points slightly upward. A sensor mounted below the horizontal collects condensation and fails early.
Welding a Bung Into Thin Wall
The bung is a heat sink and the pipe is one millimetre thick. Cut the hole accurately so the bung sits in it rather than on it, tack at four points, and keep the heat moving — the usual failure is a blown-through pipe wall beside a cold weld on the bung.
M18, Because Everything Is
Almost every factory sensor uses M18 × 1.5. If the sensor you are fitting is M12, Spark's SGATT260 reducer threads into this bung.
Ordering
One per sensor position. SGATT328 is the same bung in titanium, for a titanium system.
