How Öhlins Makes Them
Each spring is set before it is measured, so it will not settle and lose rate in service. Seals are specified for temperature stability rather than for the lowest unit cost. Öhlins machines its own critical components instead of buying them in, and the tolerances are where the money goes.

This is a service part in the proper sense — it wears, it settles, and replacing it restores what the suspension was designed to do. Any workshop with the fork or shock in front of it can answer whether this spring fits — the three figures above are all it needs. Rate is the variable that depends on the rider, not on the machine. Two people on the same bike may well want two different numbers.
What Fitting Involves
Öhlins part numbers are stamped on the packaging rather than the spring, so keep the label with the setup notes. Set static sag after fitting; the rate is only right if the sag figure lands where Öhlins specifies. Fitting is a fork-oil job: the legs come apart, the springs go in, the oil level is set to specification.
Road Approval
Road approval: springs are not separately type-approved in Germany because they substitute a part that is already homologated with the fork. Model-specific documents, where they exist, are named above.
