DescriptionThe whole story▼
If you want race-derived rear suspension that genuinely rewards everyday road riding as much as it does a track day lap, the K-Tech DDS Pro is the shock absorber to fit to your Yamaha YZF-R6 RJ27. Refined through continuous development in some of the world's most demanding championships — including the British Superbike series and the Isle of Man TT — it delivers a level of adjustability and feedback that transforms how the R6 communicates through every corner.
Key Features
- Five-way adjustability lets you dial in a setup that suits your riding style, whether that means smooth A-road comfort or committed track-day pace.
- 32-click compression and 32-click rebound damping adjustment give exceptionally fine control over how the shock responds to bumps and weight transfer.
- 16-click BPV (ByPass Valve) setting refines low-speed damping behaviour for precise, confidence-inspiring handling at everyday riding speeds.
- Hydraulic spring preload adjustment allows rapid setup changes without tools — ideal when swapping between rider weights or track conditions.
- Length adjustment enables fine-tuning of chassis geometry to suit rider preference or circuit demands.
- Potentiometer mounting points integrated into the DDS design allow direct telemetry connection for data-driven setup work.
Direct Damping System Technology
The defining feature of this shock is K-Tech's Direct Damping System. By using a smaller-diameter piston rod, the DDS reduces internal oil displacement, keeping damping characteristics consistent across a wide temperature range — a genuine advantage whether you are riding a cold morning commute or pushing hard on a sun-baked circuit. The large 32 mm piston accommodates bigger shim stacks, which translates into a more progressive, responsive damping curve that can be tailored precisely to your requirements.
Construction and Build Quality
Every adjustment component is CNC-machined to close tolerances, ensuring that each click registers exactly as intended and that nothing shifts under the rigours of hard use. The 35 mm body and 12 mm shaft are dimensioned for the stresses of the RJ27 chassis, and K-Tech's race-programme heritage means the unit has been validated under conditions far beyond normal road use. A broad range of spring rates from the 55–155 series is available, so whether you are a lightweight commuter or a heavier track rider, a spring matched to your needs can be fitted.
Fitment and Compatibility
This shock absorber is designed and engineered specifically for the Yamaha YZF-R6 RJ27 produced from model year 2017 through to 2026. Upper mount: eye type, 30 mm wide, 10 mm bolt diameter. Lower mount: fork type, 30 mm wide, 10 mm bolt diameter.
Installation Note
For optimum performance and safety, K-Tech recommends fitting by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre. Correct installation requires specialist tools and thorough technical knowledge of suspension systems.
