Tamburini's Last Great Design
Massimo Tamburini drew the Ducati 916 and then the MV Agusta F4, and the second is arguably the better resolved of the two. Twenty-five years later it still looks current, which almost nothing else from the period manages.
Radial Valves and a Ferrari Connection
The F4's four-cylinder engine uses a radial valve arrangement developed with input from Ferrari engineers during the period Cagiva owned both relationships. It is expensive to maintain and it makes a noise that owners consider sufficient justification.
A Logo in a Designed Cockpit
Every visible component on an F4 was drawn rather than specified, which makes the question of a second brand's lettering more pointed here than on most motorcycles. JetPrime offers the unmarked version for exactly that reason.
Milled, Then Anodised
The logo is cut during machining and the whole body anodised afterwards, so it shares one surface with the component and cannot separate from it over years of a hand resting there.
A Shorter Cam
The standard action is long for an engine that revs beyond thirteen thousand and makes its power at the top. Reducing the rotation required to reach full opening is felt within a corner.
Original Cables
Mechanical throughout. The motorcycle's own cables are retained and nothing electrical is touched, which on an F4 of this age is a genuine advantage.
Whether to Mark It
On a motorcycle exhibited as industrial design, adding a second manufacturer's name to the cockpit is a real decision rather than a detail. The plain version exists under its own number and a good many F4 owners choose it.
