Cut for This Chassis
The V4 profile follows the four-cylinder Panigale's cockpit rather than the twin's. Behind a fairing this tight, the routing difference is worth the dedicated part number.
Semi-Active Öhlins
The S carries electronically managed suspension and forged wheels. On a 214 horsepower superbike the damping is being adjusted several times a second from the inertial platform.
Winglets From 2020
Ducati added aerodynamic appendages after MotoGP normalised them. They produce genuine downforce at the speeds this motorcycle reaches and they changed how the front behaves under power.
Throttle Assembly Only
The switch block remains in place. This part is the housing by itself, which suits an owner whose electrics work and who objects to moulded plastic on a bike costing this much.
A Machined Bore
The tube turns in a bore that is cut rather than formed, so the position sensor reads the same angle for the same wrist movement across years.
One Finish
Black, anodised through the metal. Against forged wheels and gold suspension it does not attempt to join in, which is generally the better outcome.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075, roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. Harder to cut and it does not deform when the motorcycle goes over.
Desmodromic V4
Ducati carried mechanical valve closure into the four-cylinder engine rather than reverting to springs. It is the reason for the rev ceiling and it is entirely characteristic.
The S Is the One
The suspension difference is obvious within a corner and the forged wheels are felt at every change of direction. Almost everyone who could afford the S bought it.
