The D Profile
Shaped for the Diavel's swept handlebar rather than for Ducati's range generally. It is the version that fits the way the factory part fits.
A V4 With Valve Springs
The 1158 cc Granturismo abandons desmodromic actuation, which doubled the valve service interval to 60.000 kilometres. On a motorcycle bought for distance, that changes everything about owning it.
Thirteen Kilograms Lighter
Despite two extra cylinders, the V4 came in below the 1260 it replaced. Ducati redesigned the chassis around the engine rather than adapting what it already had.
Housing Without Switch
The switch block is untouched. This part replaces the throttle assembly, which is the sensible purchase when the electrics are working.
Where the Sensor Reads
A machined bore keeps the tube concentric and the throttle position honest. On an engine with this much low-rev torque, small openings are where the rider does most of the work.
Black Anodised
Converted into the aluminium. The Diavel V4 carries a great deal of exposed metal already and the finish sits with it rather than against it.
Ergal 7075
Aerospace grade at roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined alloy. On a heavy motorcycle, the material is chosen for the low-speed fall.
The Rear Bank Shuts Down
Two cylinders deactivate at idle to keep heat away from the rider. It addresses the single most common complaint about big V-twins in traffic and it works properly.
A Hundred and Sixty-Eight Horsepower
More than the twin it replaced and considerably smoother with it. The V4 turned the Diavel from an oddity into something genuinely easy to live with.
