The Streetfighter V2 is a supersport motorcycle with the ergonomics fixed, which is exactly what a great many riders actually want.
What the Circuit Watches
Ducati monitors the rear lighting for current draw and reports a failure when it disappears. Removing the tail unit for a track day is enough to trigger it, which is the entire reason this connector exists.
Track Days
Rear lighting comes off for most organised sessions, and the panel lighting up for the rest of the day is a distraction nobody needs while learning a circuit.
Ten Minutes
The seat comes off, the connector comes out, the eliminator goes in. There is no bodywork to remove on most models and nothing needs to be measured.
Potted Against Water
Under the seat is wetter than most owners expect once a motorcycle has been ridden through a winter. A sealed body is not a luxury there.
Sealed as a Unit
Everything electrical inside is potted, so water and vibration have nothing to attack. Under a seat unit that is the difference between one season and several.
Where to Mount It
Somewhere air moves. The unit converts the missing current into heat, and pressing it against a plastic panel is the one installation mistake worth avoiding.
What a Rear Conversion Usually Involves
A shorter mudguard, a plate bracket, often an LED tail unit and sometimes new indicators. Each of those touches a circuit the controller watches, which is why one motorcycle can end up needing more than one answer under the seat. Working out which warnings belong to which change is easier with a diagnostic tool than with guesswork.
