Bolts Off Axis
One of two mounting patterns, decided by the master cylinder rather than by the model. The aligned version covers the other and neither can be persuaded to serve for both.
Dust Outlasts Rain
Water dries out of a joint. Grit does not, and once past a clipped cover it stays against a terminal for as long as the component exists.
Slightly Heavier, Honestly
A billet body weighs a little more than the plastic it replaces. Nobody buys machined switchgear to save weight and it is better to say so than to imply otherwise.

Sealed to a standard beyond what a road bike needs. A 950 S covers distance in weather other motorcycles wait out, and that margin is where it gets spent.

The Bar Lands First
In a low-speed drop the handlebar arrives before anything else. A moulded shell cracks along its joint; a milled body scuffs and keeps working, which decides whether the ride continues.
Ninety-Three Newton Metres
Available from well below five thousand revs, which is where a rider on a mountain road actually works. Ducati tuned the SuperSport around the middle of the range rather than the top and it shows at every corner exit.
A Steel Trellis at Road Speeds
Ducati kept a conventional frame on this model while its superbikes had abandoned them entirely. The feedback that produces is more useful on a public road than the extra rigidity of a monocoque would have been.
Sold Quietly, Kept Long
The 950 S never troubled the sales charts and it keeps turning up in garages a decade later. That gap between commercial performance and owner loyalty is the most honest thing anybody can say about the model.
