One Clamp, Two Master Cylinders
The mounting slots take the original Brembo assembly and the radial replacements alike. It removes the most common ordering mistake in this category, which is buying for the brake the bike no longer has.
Ducati's Difficult Superbike
The 1199 asked more of its rider than anything the company had built. It rewarded the ones who could give it and quietly defeated the ones who could not, which is why used examples vary so widely in condition.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, red and titanium. This part number offers all three, which is more choice than most of the Ducati range gets, and red sits naturally against the factory paint.
What the Original Costs
Ducati sells switchgear as an assembly. When one function starts answering intermittently after a decade, the quotation is for the block rather than for the contact inside it.
Machined Rather Than Moulded
Cut from a single piece of Ergal 7075 with the elements sealed inside. There is no joint between two halves and therefore nothing for water to travel along.
The Thumb Finds It
Defined edges give information through a glove that a smooth moulded surface withholds. On a bike whose rider has nothing to spare for looking down, that is the practical argument.
A Monocoque, Not a Frame
The 1199 hangs its steering head from the cylinder heads through an aluminium airbox. It was the most radical thing done to a production superbike in a decade and it made the bike remarkably light.
Nothing Is Cut
The loom terminates in Ducati's own plug. Two fasteners and one connector, and the harness stays exactly as the factory assembled it.
A Hundred and Sixty-Four Kilograms
Dry, which made the 1199 lighter than any litre superbike that had come before it. Deleting the frame entirely and letting the airbox carry the load between the headstock and the engine is how Ducati got there, and no rival was prepared to try it.
