The JP ES 013 answers the Z1000's sidestand loop so the motorcycle runs with the bracket removed.

Sugomi Styling
The 2014 redesign introduced Kawasaki's most aggressive design language, and the Z1000 wore it more convincingly than anything else in the range.
Four Exhaust Headers on Display
Kawasaki routed them deliberately as part of the styling, which is either magnificent or excessive depending on the observer. Nobody is neutral about it.
An Open Circuit
That is all the electronics see, and they cannot distinguish it from a deployed stand or a broken wire. All three produce identical behaviour.
Keep It on a Road Bike
With a stand still fitted the interlock is doing real work. Disabling it turns an easy mistake into a locked rear wheel at a junction.
Pressure Washing
A lance aimed at the swingarm pivot drives water directly into the connector, and the corrosion that follows takes a season to appear. It is the commonest cause of premature failure on any marque.
Buy It Before You Need It
The part costs little and takes no space, and riders heading somewhere remote frequently carry one against the possibility rather than waiting for the switch to fail inconveniently.
The Cost of Doing Nothing
An interlock that cuts the engine at random is not merely annoying, it is dangerous in traffic. Whichever way it is solved, leaving it is the worst option.
The Connector Is the Weak Point
More often than the switch itself. Cleaning it and packing it with dielectric grease sometimes buys another year, which is worth attempting before anything is ordered.
Discontinued and Missed
Kawasaki moved the naked litre position to the Z H2, which is a very different motorcycle. Owners who wanted the simpler thing have kept their Z1000s and maintained them carefully.
