Semi-Active Suspension Earns Its Keep
On a circuit the Öhlins units have something genuinely useful to do: braking, turn-in and drive all load the chassis differently, and continuous adjustment handles that better than a static setup can. The SP is the MT-10 that most rewards track use.
A Reduced Housing
Indicators and horn are removed along with the positions they occupied, leaving a shorter list of better-separated controls. The rider identifies them by counting from the top rather than by reading anything.
Standard Loom Retained
This is a race cluster rather than a superbike one, so no aftermarket harness or external dashboard is needed. The SP's suspension electronics and the rider aids all continue to function exactly as delivered.
Crossplane at the Limiter
The engine's uneven firing order produces a pulse rather than a hum, and at the top of a gear everything on the handlebar is moving with it. A single machined body handles that better than two mouldings clipped together.
Sealed Elements
Contacts sealed inside a housing with no moulded seam. A machine washed hot and stored damp between meetings meets more water in a season than a road bike does in several years.
One Finish
Black anodised, converted into the surface. On a track-prepared motorcycle, a cockpit that gives the eye nothing to catch is easier to read at speed than one with a bright component in it.
