The street block and this one carry identical functions in a different arrangement. The difference only matters to a rider making the same input twenty times in half an hour.
Geometry Instead of Looking
Under heavy braking a thumb finds the end of a column before it finds the middle of one. A layout built around that fact costs nothing and saves a fraction of attention.
Adjusted Without Stopping
Traction and map both change through a session as conditions do. Those inputs pass through the left block and its feel decides whether they can be made without looking.
Pressure Washers End Switchgear
Not mileage and not use. A hot jet twenty minutes after the flag finds every joint a moulded assembly has, and a machined body does not offer one.
Road Specification Returns
Nothing spliced, so the standard block goes back on before a sale. On a motorcycle whose value depends on how it presents, that is worth the twenty minutes.
A Pit Limiter as Standard
Ducati built proper pit-lane speed control into a road-registered superbike. Nobody asked for it and it tells you exactly who the 1299 was drawn for.
Two Hundred and Five Horsepower
From 1285 cc, which remains an extraordinary specific output for a two-cylinder engine. Ducati found it in the stroke because the bore had already gone as far as it could.
A Bosch Inertial Platform
Cornering ABS and lean-sensitive wheelie control turned a difficult motorcycle into one a competent rider could use most of. It arrived with the 1299 rather than the 1199.
Three Finishes
Black, red and titanium, grown into the aluminium. A circuit bike collects marks and anodising dulls at the point of contact rather than lifting from an edge.
