The Update Reached the RR Too
Aprilia gave the cheaper variant the 201 hp engine, the six-axis platform and cornering ABS while keeping Sachs suspension. It was arguably the best value litre superbike anyone was selling at the time.
Where a Race Layout Earns Its Place
RRs go to circuits in numbers because the price left room for tyres and suspension work. Moving the blue button to the bottom of the column is a change that only makes sense on a bike being ridden that way.
Three Titles in the Family
Biaggi took the World Superbike championship in 2010 and 2012 and Guintoli in 2014, all on this engine architecture. Homologation stories are usually thin; this one is not.
Post-2017 Fitment
The revised control assembly takes this part number. Bikes from 2016 and earlier need the TC version, and the two look similar enough on a listing that the model year is worth confirming.
Traction Down, Map Across
As a rear tyre goes off the traction level goes up and the map often comes down. Both are done from this block, mid-session, which is why its contacts accumulate cycles faster than anything else on the bar.
Four Finishes
Black, blue, red and titanium, anodised into the metal. On the RR's black and red schemes, two of the four are continuations of what is already on the bodywork.
Sealed Elements
Enclosed inside the billet rather than behind a clipped cover. Ingress rather than wear is what finishes switchgear, and hot washing is how the water gets there.
Straight Swap
Pre-wired to Aprilia's connector. Nothing cut, nothing coded, and the change is as easy to reverse as it was to make.
