The JP ES 041 replaces the Multistrada 1260's plastic reed housing with a billet cover that seals on an O-ring and has nothing inside it left to age.

The Last Twin Multistrada
Ducati moved the model to the V4 in 2021, which makes the 1260 the final development of a line that started in 2003.
Homologation
The system is part of the motorcycle's approval where it is fitted, and removing it moves the machine into competition use in those markets.
Nothing Consumed
No gasket is destroyed and no fastener stretched. Everything removed goes back exactly as it came off whenever it needs to.
Two Fasteners, Usually
The housing is held by a small number of bolts into the head, and the cover uses the same ones in the same positions.
An Evening Either Way
Whether fitted alone or alongside the electrical half, the access is identical. Doing both at once is simply better value for the effort.
Access on a V4
Ducati packages four cylinders into a very compact space, and the rear bank is genuinely awkward. Anybody doing this should have the airbox out and the bodywork somewhere safe before starting.
The Half It Does Not Do
The dashboard warning comes from the solenoid circuit, which is a separate component in a separate place. Fitting the cover alone leaves the lamp exactly where it was, and that surprises a fair number of owners every year. The two halves are sold separately precisely because some owners need only one of them.
Thread Locking Compound
Ducati specifies where it is wanted and where it is not, and a cover held by two small fasteners into an aluminium head is generally a place for correct torque rather than for chemistry. Adding compound because it feels thorough makes the next removal harder for no gain at all.
