Fitted Cold
Aluminium threads in a warm cylinder head are unforgiving. There is no reason to rush this and every reason to wait for the engine to cool.

Nothing while riding. The system operates on exhaust gas after combustion and has no influence on how the engine makes power.

Four cylinders in a remarkably compact package means the rear bank is genuinely tight. Anybody working there should have the airbox out before starting rather than halfway through.
The Third Thing Nobody Mentions
The hose port at the airbox end stays open once the housing is gone, and closing it properly is part of the job rather than an afterthought. Unfiltered air into an intake is a worse outcome by a considerable margin than the system that was removed.
What to Have Ready
A torque wrench that reads accurately at low settings, a spare O-ring, a handful of cable ties and somewhere clean to put a fuel tank. That list is short because the job is short; the reason it matters is that stopping halfway through to find any of them means the tank sits on a bench overnight.
