A Moto2 Engine Supplier
Triumph replaced Honda as the sole engine supplier to the Moto2 class in 2019, and this motorcycle exists to mark that. The connection is real rather than marketing.

An Emulator Rather Than a Bridge
This part answers with the value the self-test expects. Shorting the terminals answers with a different wrong value and earns a different warning.
An Ageing Coil
On older Triumphs the solenoid itself fails, and the symptom is the same fault code an eliminator prevents. Some of these are fitted as a repair rather than a modification.
A Common Complaint
Owners describe it as backfiring, popping or crackling, and it is the single most discussed characteristic of a modern Triumph triple with an open exhaust.
A Component With No Service Interval
Triumph never specifies replacement for the solenoid, which means the first anybody hears about it is a warning on the display. On older bikes the valve failing is at least as common as an owner removing it.
Not the Same as a Decat
Removing a catalytic converter is a different change with different consequences. The two are frequently done together and they address entirely separate parts of the exhaust system.
On a Bike With a Full Race System
The overrun becomes genuinely loud, to the point that riders start wondering whether something is wrong. Nothing is, and the sound has been produced by the emissions hardware all along rather than by the exhaust that made it audible.
Nothing to Reset
No adaptation, no throttle relearn and no service reminder. The motorcycle simply behaves as it did, minus one warning.
