A Hundred and Ninety-Six Kilograms

Not a Performance Part
The valve is shut at any meaningful throttle opening. Removing it frees nothing and anybody selling it as a power modification is misrepresenting what it does.

The self-test happens as the ignition comes on rather than while riding, so any problem with the fitment shows itself in the garage rather than on a road.
Not the Exhaust Butterfly
Several Kawasakis also carry a servo-operated valve inside the silencer, which is a separate system with a separate purpose. Confusing the two leads directly to ordering the wrong part.
A Job Best Done Once
Combining this with a filter change, an exhaust fitting or a coolant service means the disassembly is paid for by something else. Doing it in isolation is entirely possible and a slightly wasteful use of an evening that could have covered three jobs.
