Where APRC Began
This is the motorcycle that introduced Aprilia's full electronics suite: traction, wheelie and launch control with a quickshifter, all adjustable while moving. In 2011 nothing else offered it.
Nine Hundred and Ninety-Nine Point Six
The V4 at its original capacity, making 167 horsepower in the Tuono. Aprilia did not enlarge it until 2015.
The Valve
An electrically opened path into the exhaust ports on a closed throttle. It lowers a measured figure and contributes nothing a rider notices.
Continuity, Measured
The winding is read at every start and an empty connector reads as a failure. The warning stays on the panel until the circuit is answered.
The Expected Impedance
This unit supplies it rather than bridging the terminals, so nothing appears and nothing is stored.
Flat Bars on a Superbike
Aprilia took the RSV4 chassis and changed almost nothing except the handlebar and the bodywork. It handled like nothing else in the naked class at the time.
Overrun Noise
Residue burning in the header, which on a bike this age is often mistaken for a worn exhaust or a fuelling fault.
An Ageing Loom
On a motorcycle more than a decade old, a part that plugs in and cuts nothing is worth considerably more than one that splices.
The Cover Completes It
The reed pack remains on the cylinder heads until the mechanical half is replaced.
Homologation
The system belongs to the approval and removing it ends road legality in Europe.
Still Quick Enough
A hundred and sixty-seven horsepower and a superbike chassis do not become slow because a decade has passed. Values have fallen far enough that the original V4 Tuono is now one of the most motorcycle anybody can buy for the money, and owners tend to know it.
