A Tourer With a Sports Chassis
Panniers, a taller screen and a centre stand on the Rivale's frame and the Brutale's triple. The Stradale was MV's attempt at a genuinely practical motorcycle, and it lasted a single model year before the range was rationalised.
Why a Tourer Wants a Shorter Action
Less for response than for wrist position over a long day. A throttle that reaches full opening in a smaller rotation requires less repositioning of the hand, and across several hundred kilometres that is a comfort question rather than a performance one.
The Switch Block Moves
MV integrates the right-hand controls into the throttle housing, so a quick tube displaces them. This unit restores the starter and engine stop functions on an independent bar clamp using the motorcycle's own connector.
Cruise and Modes Unaffected
Only the throttle-side controls move. Whatever else the Stradale carries on its left cluster continues to work exactly as before, and the ECU sees no change of any kind.
Sealed for Distance
Military-specification contacts inside a machined body. A bike bought to cross countries meets weather that a sports MV is kept away from, and the sealing is what determines how the controls feel at the end of a wet week.
Very Few Made
Production was tiny and there is no successor. Anyone maintaining a Stradale is working from a parts supply that was never deep, and a component engineered for the platform rather than adapted is worth recording.
One Finish
Titanium anodised, converted into the surface rather than applied on top. On a touring cockpit already carrying a screen adjuster and mounts, it stays out of the way.
