Under a Kilogram
0.89 kg is light enough to hold in one hand without thinking about it, and it replaces a 2.86 kg standard silencer mounted high on the right-hand side of a 169 kg motorcycle. Nearly two kilograms from the least helpful position on the bike.
On an R3 ridden hard that is the change a rider notices, and it costs less than most of the alternatives in this catalogue.
Steel, and Why That Is the Right Choice Here
Akrapovic offers this model a carbon slip-on and a titanium one as well. This is the stainless steel version, and it is the least expensive of the three.
On a machine bought as a first sportsbike, that matters. The end cap does the visual work; the body underneath does not need to be exotic to deliver 68.9 per cent.
Thirteen Years, Three Models
Yamaha has left this platform's exhaust mounting alone since 2014, across the MT-03 roadster, the YZF-R3 and the Japanese YZF-R25, and through the 2019 restyle. One part number covers all of it.

At this price it is the least expensive complete slip-on in our Akrapovic range, and it goes on a motorcycle that many owners bought as their first. That combination matters: a part at this price is a realistic purchase for a rider who is not yet spending four figures on accessories.
Different From the Others
Akrapovic says outright that this design looks completely different from its other systems for the R3. The honeycomb cap is the reason — every other silencer in the range finishes with a plain machined ring, and this one does not.
Steel Under, Titanium at the End
The body is stainless steel and only the end cap is titanium. That is where the money goes on a part at this price: the material that shows gets the expensive treatment, and the tube behind it does the work in something cheaper and tougher.
The Same Bike, Three Names
MT-03 in Europe, YZF-R3 as the faired version, YZF-R25 in Japan and parts of Asia. One 321 cc twin — or 249 cc in the R25 — one chassis, one exhaust mounting. Whichever name is on your papers, this is the part.
