DescriptionThe whole story▼
For 2015 Ducati added a Stripe version to the Monster 1200 S range, with a striped livery that gave the higher-spec Monster an even more distinctive look. Whether an owner rides the Stripe or the plain S, the question of colour follows as soon as personalisation begins, because a naked bike shows every detail. The oil filler is one of them. For the Monster 1200 S of 2014 to 2017, including the S Stripe of 2015 and 2016, Accossato lists the FP004 oil filler cap: machined aluminium, threaded M20x2.5, in eight anodised colours.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Ducati Monster 1200 S, 2014 to 2017
- Also listed for the Monster 1200 S Stripe of 2015 and 2016
- Thread M20x2.5 according to Accossato
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Eight colours: gold, green, orange, red, blue, black, silver, titanium
- Suitable for other bikes with the same cap size after checking
- Set with Accossato FP007, TS003 and TS012 for the same bike
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FP004 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodised, so the colour becomes part of its surface. The choice is wide: gold, green, orange, red, blue, black, silver and titanium. Its thread is M20x2.5; Accossato lists the cap for specific models and also describes it as adaptable to other motorcycles whose filler has the same size. That thread is also the one figure to confirm if the cap in your Monster 1200 S has already been changed.
Choosing a Colour for the Stripes
Stripes set a theme, and the rest of the bike can either follow it or keep quiet. On a Monster 1200 S Stripe, a cap in one of the livery's colours ties the engine to the bodywork, while a neutral finish such as titanium or black lets the stripes do the talking. On the plain S, look at the frame, the wheels and any anodised parts you already have, because a cap that clashes with them draws the eye for the wrong reason. Accossato's other caps for this bike come in almost the same range, except that the clutch cover is made without green and titanium and the reservoir caps without titanium, so a matched set is possible in six colours. Once you have decided, fit the FP004 on a cold engine. Clean around the filler, read the level as the owner's manual of the Monster 1200 S describes, and turn the cap in by hand until it seats. After the first ride, check that the cap and the casing around it are dry.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FP004 for the Monster 1200 S from 2014 to 2017 and for the S Stripe of 2015 and 2016. The cap is defined by its M20x2.5 thread, and we carry it for the Monster 1200, the Monster 795 and the Hypermotard 950 as well. If you are unsure whether your cap is original, check the thread before ordering. The other Accossato caps for the Monster 1200 S are the FP007 clutch cover, the TS003 front reservoir cap and the TS012 rear reservoir cap.
Road Approval
The FP004 is listed by us for racing and competition, as we have no German ABE or other test documentation for it.
