DescriptionThe whole story▼
Kawasaki has been linked with lime green for decades, and plenty of Z650s leave the showroom wearing some of it, whether as the main colour or as accents on a darker bike. The middleweight twin arrived for 2017, and its light, easy-going nature has made it a common sight wherever riders gather, from the car parks of biker cafés to track-day paddocks. For the Z650 of 2017 to 2024, Accossato lists the FC126, a quick-release cap machined from aluminium, whose pawl pin can be ordered in six colours, green among them.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Z650, 2017 to 2024
- Accossato entries: Z 650 2017 to 2022 and Z 650 2023 to 2024
- CNC-machined aluminium, robust and durable according to Accossato
- Quick-closing pawl
- Pin in green, black, silver, red, gold or blue
- Pawl available separately
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
CNC-machined aluminium is the material of the whole FC126, and Accossato describes the cap as tough and long-lasting, with a new design. The quick-closing pawl opens the Z650's tank quickly and shuts it again at once. That pawl is where the colour sits, a pin in one of six shades, while the body of the cap is not described as coloured. A damaged pawl is available from Accossato as a separate part.
Green on Green, or Not
Choosing the pin colour for a Z650 usually starts with the paint. On a bike in lime green, a green pin continues the colour onto the tank top and makes the cap look as if it had always been there. Other riders prefer a contrast: black for a quieter look, silver to go with the machined aluminium, red or gold to stand out. A good approach is to look at the parts that already carry colour, such as levers, bar ends or the frame, and pick the pin that repeats one of them, so the bike reads as one design rather than a collection of accessories. Remember, too, that the pin sits in the middle of the tank, the part of the Z650 you see whenever you glance down. A colour that looks fun on a screen can feel loud after a whole season, while a subtle one rarely becomes tiresome. Either way, decide calmly before ordering, because the cap will be in view for a long time.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list shows two entries for the FC126 on this bike, the Z 650 from 2017 to 2022 and the Z 650 from 2023 to 2024, which together cover the years of this product. Elsewhere in our catalogue the cap appears under the Ninja 650, the faired sister of the Z650. Please make sure your bike's model year matches the list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC126, so it is intended for the track. The Z650's standard cap normally opens with the ignition key and should remain on the bike for the road.
