DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Hypermotard 939 took over from the 821 in 2016 with a larger Testastretta twin, and the SP version added higher-specification suspension for riders who push harder. Either way, it is a bike that invites enthusiastic riding, and the first ride of spring is often the most eager of the year. After a winter in the garage, though, the roads are still covered in grit and the tyres are cold and hard. For the Hypermotard 939 and 939 SP of 2016 to 2018, Accossato's list shows the PF05 front axle sliders, a black pair in aluminium and plastic.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Hypermotard 939, 2016 to 2018
- Listed by Accossato together with the 939 SP
- Accossato code PF05, black
- Aluminium and plastic
- Two protectors, one per side
- Spacers, screws and all other fitting parts included, according to Accossato
- Pairs with the TP067 crash pads for this bike
- No German ABE; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The PF05 is a pair of protectors made of aluminium and plastic, finished in black. Accossato includes spacers, screws and all other parts required for mounting, so the pair can go on during the spring service. The description does not show how they are positioned on the Hypermotard 939, so we do not describe it. The purpose is to take the first contact in a fall or slide and, with luck, reduce the damage to the fork and front axle.
The First Ride of Spring
The first ride after the winter break is special: the bike has just been serviced, the weather is fine and the roads look dry. But the grip is not what it was in the autumn. Grit spread during the winter lies in the corners, the tarmac is cold and the tyres need longer to warm up. A Hypermotard 939 ridden with first-day enthusiasm can slide on a gritty bend at modest speed, and when it does, the fork ends are among the parts that touch the road. Ride the first miles gently, avoid the edge of the road where grit collects and check the tyre pressures before setting off, as they often drop over the winter. After a slide, look at the sliders and the fork, and replace a slider that is worn.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the PF05 for the Hypermotard 939 and 939 SP from 2016 to 2018. For the frame area, the TP067 crash pads are available for the same bike. At Inter-Pace, the PF05 also appears for the Hyperstrada 821, the Multistrada 1260 and the Monster 1200. When fitting is complete, rotate the front wheel and steer fully left and right: the calipers, discs and mudguard must stay clear of the protectors. Tighten the screws as Ducati specifies.
Road Approval
Because we have neither a German ABE nor test documents for the PF05, it is listed for circuit racing and competition.
