DescriptionThe whole story▼
In 2019 Triumph added two special editions to the Bonneville T120 range: the T120 Ace, a nod to London's Ace Cafe, and the T120 Diamond Edition. Bikes like these are often saved for dry weekends and spend long spells in a garage between rides. For both editions, built from 2019 to 2021, Accossato lists the DK203, a floating front disc whose 310 mm friction ring is carried on a black centre section and which the supplier describes as interchangeable with the original.
Key Features
- Floating front brake disc for the Triumph Bonneville T120
- Listed for the T120 Ace and T120 Diamond Edition, 2019 to 2021
- 310 mm outer diameter, 82 mm inner diameter, 4 mm thick
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc
- Black carrier
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc
- Price per disc; the T120 brakes with two at the front
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The DK203 keeps the braking surface and the mounting apart. Its friction ring measures 310 mm across and 4 mm in thickness, and the black carrier inside it attaches to the wheel. Rivets link ring and carrier without clamping them rigidly, so the ring can expand with heat on its own. Accossato, based in Villastellone near Turin, describes the disc as a direct alternative to the one Triumph fitted at the factory and says its understanding of discs was gained in racing, naming Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3.
Low Mileage, Long Rests
Special editions tend to be ridden gently and parked often, and brakes do not always thank their owners for it. A disc that stands for weeks in a damp garage grows a thin layer of rust wherever the pads do not touch it, while under the pads the friction material can leave a faint imprint. Neither matters on a bike that is used regularly, because the first few stops polish the surface clean. After a whole winter it is a different story.
Before the first ride of the season, push the T120 back and forth a few times, squeezing the front brake gently each time, then look at the discs: an even, bright band where the pads run is what you want to see. Patchy areas, a pulsing lever on the first slow stops or a clear step at the outer edge are reasons to measure. Accossato prints the minimum thickness on its discs and suggests replacing them after thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or earlier if they are worn, scored or cracked. On a low-mileage Bonneville the calendar usually matters more than the distance, so check at the start of every season.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names two versions of the Bonneville T120 for the DK203: the T120 Ace and the T120 Diamond Edition, both for 2019 to 2021. Other T120 versions do not appear on that list, so owners of a standard T120 should compare their disc with the figures above and ask us before ordering. There are two discs on the front wheel and the price is for one. Accossato also lists levers for these bikes, among them the EDF014 and the EST333P.
Road Approval
For the DK203 there is no documented German ABE and no type approval; it is sold for use on the circuit.
Scope of Delivery
