DescriptionThe whole story▼
One-make and naked-bike cups are where middleweights end up when their owners get serious, and a Ducati Monster 821 in that company spends its weekend doing the same handful of corners over and over with a stopwatch running. Qualifying is the part nobody can repeat. Accossato presses the AGPA177 front pad in its EV2 racing material, article AGPA177EV2, a grade the firm files among its racing compounds, and the entry for the Monster 821 covers 2014 to 2021.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Monster 821, seasons 2014 to 2021
- AGPA177EV2: the AGPA177 shape in the EV2 racing material
- Accossato lists the compound among its racing grades
- Built around sessions rather than around journeys
- The front wheel is a two-box job, one per caliper
- Each box contains two pads for a single caliper
- ST, EV1 and ZXC share the same shape
- No German ABE documented; competition equipment
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato does not decorate the description of this grade; it is filed as a racing material and sold that way. In practice that points at a compound designed for repeated hard use with very little recovery time, the pattern of a timed session rather than of a Sunday ride. The plate beneath is the familiar AGPA177, so a team keeping several compounds in the van has one shape to stock and only the suffix to read. That is worth something at seven in the morning with the light still poor.
Qualifying, and the Lap You Only Get Once
A qualifying session is short and lopsided. The first laps go into warming tyres, the middle ones into finding space, and somewhere near the end there is one clear lap where everything has to arrive at the same moment. What the rider needs at that point is a front end that has not moved since the session began, because a lever that has crept closer to the bar rewrites every reference point on the circuit at once.
The preparation that supports this is unglamorous. Go through the front calipers between sessions, look at how much material each pad has left, and replace a set that is close to finished instead of gambling on one more run. Clean the pistons before pushing them back when the change is made, and check the disc surfaces while the Monster 821 is up on the stand. Fluid that has done a full season on a hard-used machine deserves attention before the meeting, not after it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato covers the front wheel of the Monster 821 for the 2014 to 2021 span, the 821 Stealth included from 2019. Two calipers grip that wheel, so a complete set of front pads is two boxes and a half measure is one. The rear of the machine uses the AGPA42 over the same run, while the DK008 and the DKS053 are the Accossato discs catalogued here. This shape is shared with other models in the range, so buy against the article number.
Road Approval
We have received no German ABE and no test report covering the AGPA177EV2, and the pads are therefore restricted to racing and closed-course use.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA177 pads in the EV2 racing material in one box, which fills a single front caliper on the Monster 821.
