DescriptionThe whole story▼
A 300 two-stroke built for motocross has long been a rare thing, and the TM Racing MX 300 two-stroke from Pesaro is one of the few. Its owners tend to be enthusiasts who like the torque of a big two-stroke on the track and do not mind riding something unusual. The downside of an uncommon bike can be that parts are not always on the shelf at the nearest dealer. Accossato's B8206, a folding front brake lever for the MX 300 two-stroke from 2001 to 2019, is CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the TM Racing MX 300 two-stroke, 2001 to 2019
- Two version groups in Accossato's list: 2001–2009 and 2010–2019
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Short blade for three fingers
- Anti-break hinge between dark base and coloured blade
- Milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black, blue, gold or red blade
- No German ABE on record; for motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, based today in Villastellone near Turin, machines the B8206 from a solid block of Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, on CNC equipment. Its aim is a lever that is strong, reliable and light, and the result is an Italian part for an Italian motorcycle. The lever has two sections: a dark base that mounts on the master cylinder and a blade in black, blue, gold or red, which is held by a hinge and can fold. It is the shorter, three-finger shape that Accossato uses for its brake levers.
An Uncommon Bike
Owning a rare motocross bike changes how you think about spares. A broken lever on one of the common machines can often be replaced from a neighbour's van in the paddock; for an MX 300 two-stroke, a replacement may have to be ordered and waited for. Experienced owners of unusual bikes therefore keep a small stock of wear and crash parts at home, and they look for parts that are less likely to be needed in the first place. A brake lever that can fold rather than break is a good example.
The strong, broad pull of a 300 two-stroke suits riders who like to hold a gear higher and let the engine work, but it also means arriving at corners fast, and the front brake is used hard. When the front tucks and the TM goes down, the blade of the B8206 can swing forward on its hinge instead of absorbing the whole impact, so the lever has a good chance of surviving. It is not immune to damage, and a spare remains wise, but with a folding lever that spare may stay in its box for much of the season.
Fitment and Compatibility
Fitment covers the TM Racing MX 300 two-stroke from 2001 to 2019, split by Accossato into the version groups 2001–2009 and 2010–2019; the B8206 goes on the original front brake master cylinder. The C7283 folding clutch lever is listed for the later group only. Black, blue and red are shared colours; gold is exclusive to the brake lever, orange to the clutch lever.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the B8206. It is made for motocross and off-road competition, which is also the only use the MX 300 two-stroke is designed for.
