A GT or a GX is planned in stages, and a long stage rarely holds one kind of air. The same day can begin behind motorway spray, cross a rain front by lunchtime and finish on a valley road where farm traffic has laid dry grit over the whole surface. Riders file all of that under one heading — bad conditions — and then look for the one filter that covers it. Sprint Filter does not build that filter: the range answers water and dust separately, because they are separate problems. The P14 in the PM236P14 is the dust answer.
Key Features
- Dry special nonwoven media, filtering at 14 microns — the fine-dust specification
- Airflow of 1,800 litres per square metre per second, against 5,050 for the standard P08
- Never oiled: nothing to re-treat after a wash, nothing to migrate onto the sensors
- Carried by roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- Only the element changes: standard airbox, no modification, no remap
- Washable, built for the life of the motorcycle; two years of warranty from purchase
Two protective media, two different problems
Water and mineral dust do not behave alike, and the media do not treat them alike. The P037 is the water-repellent one, weaving at 37 microns and passing 4,500 litres per square metre per second; it is specified for wet going. The P14 is a different construction altogether, a dry nonwoven at 14 microns and 1,800, made for dust, daily use and long distance. Further down again sits the T12 at 7 microns and 560, for off-road and desert work. On a machine that tours, the question is not which is strongest but which conditions make up your year: southern dust and unswept back roads point one way, standing water and winter salt another.
What the fine media costs on a litre-class four
1,800 against 5,050 is not a detail to be read past. A finer medium retains more and flows less; that is a trade, not a ranking, and on an inline four of this size the traded half is real. This engine has a genuine appetite in the top third of its rev range, and a loaded GT pulling out for a long overtake is exactly the moment the reserve would have been spent. So it has to be said in both directions: no drop-in element makes a standard motorcycle noticeably quicker, the P08 included. What an element decides is how much of the intake path it takes for itself, and how much it holds back. The P14 gives away more of the first to keep more of the second, and where the kilometres are clean the P08 is the better balance.
Care and cleaning
The PM236P14 is serviced with compressed air, the jet held to the clean face and pushed outwards. When a stage has earned more, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, then let it dry completely in open air — never with heat, never with a flame. It goes back in dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-S 1000/GT/GX, 2022 to 2026, a direct replacement in the standard airbox. Two machines share this element; both are listed in the Fitment tab.
