Nothing dramatic happens the moment a coarse particle gets through; what accumulates over a long ownership is a quantity of abrasive material that was admitted rather than caught, and the P14 simply admits less of it. That is worth paying flow for where the air is genuinely dirty — gravel access roads, long dry summers, agricultural dust, days spent in dense traffic — and worth rather less where it is not.
