More air can mean two different things, and only one of them is printed on the label. A flow rating counts what passes in a second while demand is at its highest. The other quantity — the one that decides how often the element wants attention — is the total volume that has gone through it since it was last cleaned. At 1200 cc the Diavel V4 has the largest engine on this listing, so it moves more air per kilometre than anything else here. That affects the second number and leaves the first exactly where it was.
Key Features
- Polyester fabric that is dry on delivery and stays dry, with no oiling at any stage
- An aperture of 85 µm with 15,000 l/m²/sec of flow, the top rate in Sprint Filter's programme
- 95.22 % of 100-micron particles retained under measurement, compared with 93.13 % for the P08
- Something close to double the filtering area of other performance elements, in the standard frame
- Replaces the factory panel directly: the airbox is unchanged and no remapping is required
- Cleaned and put back for the lifetime of the motorcycle, with two years of warranty from purchase
The number that governs the calendar
Loading follows volume, which is why a larger engine arrives at any given level of restriction sooner than a smaller one covering the same distance. On a paper panel that shows up as a replacement falling due. Here it shows up as the air line coming out slightly more often, and repeating that job costs nothing but a few minutes — the element that goes back in is the one that came out, returned to the condition it was in when it was last serviced. Over the years a Diavel is kept, that is the difference this part actually makes.
The number on the label
The flow figure is a different proposition and deserves a straight description. It is spent only while the engine is held at a large sustained demand, high in the rev range with the throttle wide open and staying there, which is the pattern of a circuit session rather than of road speeds. Ridden the way most of these machines are ridden, the capacity stays theoretical and the more open weave works every hour regardless. The P08 at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec is the element for that use, and a P14 nonwoven at 14 µm and 1,800 l/m²/sec is catalogued for the same airbox when dust is the problem.
Care and cleaning
The regular service is compressed air on the clean side of the PM160S F1-85, blown outward so that dust leaves by the face it settled on instead of being pressed further in. Once a year, or after a winter of salt and damp, wash it in warm water with a mild detergent until the water running off is clear. Let it dry all the way through in still, open air — never above a heater and never with a flame, since heat is what polyester will not survive — and fit it dry. The maintenance instructions sit in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Ducati Diavel V4 built between 2023 and 2026, as a direct replacement in the series airbox. Eight Ducati machines built around the V4 engine take this part number; their model years are set out in the Fitment tab.
