Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Suzuki GSX-S 1000 (2016–2021) PM91S

Suzuki built this generation of the GSX-S 1000 from 2016 to 2021 and then replaced it. That is ordinary, but it changes something for the people still riding one: parts counters stock what sells today. A consumable for a superseded generation stops sitting on a shelf and becomes something a dealer orders in, That is the argument for fitting a Sprint Filter P08 now rather than later. Not that it makes a standard four faster — no drop-in element does — but that it is the one line on the service list you pay for once and stop paying for.

Out of the ordering queue

A paper element is a small purchase repeated for as long as you keep the motorcycle, and each repeat depends on somebody still listing the number. On a current model that is invisible; on a machine whose production ended in 2021 it stops being invisible, and one day the order takes the week you had set aside for riding. The PM91S breaks that chain in a single step. It goes in once, and every service after it is done with equipment you already own — an air line, a bowl of water, an afternoon.

One layer of cloth, and its numbers

The P08 is a single sheet of woven polyester and it works dry. The thread itself measures 22 microns and upwards; the 80-micron figure belongs to the aperture between the threads, a different measurement. Working dry matters ahead of a modern intake: no oil film can reach the sensors, and there is no re-oiling after a wash. The manufacturer's comparison puts the P08 at 93.13 per cent of 100-micron particles, against 76.42 for four-layer oiled cotton. Flow is 5,050 litres per square metre per second, and the rest of the range trades away from that in a straight line: P037 at 37 microns, P14 at 14, T12 at 7, each holding back more and passing less. Finer is not better, only different; for a road bike with the occasional open day, the P08 sits where it should.

Care and cleaning

Feed compressed air into the clean face so the dirt leaves the way it came in, then put the PM91S back dry. If a season has left more than air will shift, lukewarm water and a mild detergent are enough; rinse until the water runs clear and dry it in open air. Never use heat, never a flame. Fitment & Compatibility

Made for the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 of 2016 to 2021, in place of the standard element, with no airbox changes.
